After the first version of the game, several gametypes, weapons and maps were added. For example the demolition gametype was added, which was quite popular on SoF2 servers. Also, great maps were added like mp_jor1, which seems to be the most popular map on SoF2 servers.
 
After the SoF2 game release, it was one of the most played online games. The game is known for its relatively long fights (few one-shot kills), while the gameplay is quite fast. The combination of these factors makes the game Soldier of Fortune 2 unique.
 
The 1.03 SoF2 servers also include an anticheat program called PunkBuster. Demo recording is also available and a necessity for competitive cheat free SoF2 gameservers.
